When I was a kid, Abigail was docked in Northeast Harbor, Maine. She was my favorite and I always enjoyed walking down the dock and looking at her. Then over the years, I have seen her at the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta. Great to see pictures of her here. Enjoy!
We had a fiberglass Sunfish when I was young, and I had a lot of great adventures with it. It's great to see pictures of a wood one, and learn more about the design and Alcort. Thanks for posting this.
Yes, I had heard for years about the "winter rig". When I mentioned it to the Hai sailors in Finland they laughed. Their boats are hauled out for the winter since much of the Baltic freezes. I still find it interesting that the boats shipped here had less sail area, the ones shipped to France had more, and the Finns stayed with the sailplan as originally designed. They actively race the boats hard in all conditions, and also cruise among their many islands. These are really great boats for people of all ages, and I wish more were still sailing...
I don't have it with me. I'll need to check the boat, and I'll be there next weekend (after the show ends). I'll be happy to send it to you if you let me know where. Years ago I took the canoe to Old Town and showed it to the folks there. They found the original paperwork and I probably have a copy somewhere.
