Calendar Islands Yawl 18, the enlarged version of the CIY 16, is a lug-yawl built lapstrake plywood construction glued with epoxy. The enlarged version affords ample room for 4-6 and gear suitable for day sailing and excursions. With a large sail area, the CIY lends itself to performance sailing but still rowable when needed. Construction from the kit started one year ago with launching on Norway Lake, ME on September 21st, 2020. Hull construction is 6mm Okoume with Sepele mahogany for stem, transom, sheerstake, seats, and foils. Ash accents the gunwales and tiller with cedar floorboards. The 19 foot mast, and 13 foot mast are carbon fiber for strength and lightness.

Beautiful boat Hank. I built a 14’ KDI from a Clint Chase kit and launched it in 2020 (search “Finley” in this show). Clint produces well thought out kits and was a great resource when I was at wit’s end during construction. Happy to see another one of his designs come to fruition.
We need to see that yawl on the Sheepscot River. That would be fun to sail around the islands with in the summer. Beautiful design!!
We remember seeing Tillerman at the last SRR. Beautiful boat, glad to see her here too.
Cheers,
Ted and Judy
