Owner’s Description
This sportfish was one of 13 built in Cuba before the revolution and escaped to Florida in 1960. They are known as a “Cubavich” because of their resemblance to Rybovich sport fishes of the day.
The owner of hull #1 was shot by Castro.
The first owner of this boat (Ola) was an influential member of Cuban society and in the oil business. He was able to escape to Fort Lauderdale where the boat was kept. After an assassination attempt, he sold the boat to Ina Bosch, a well known angler who kept the boat for a decade fishing mostly out of Bimini.
In ’89 it was purchased by Carlos Arruza (Sweet Crude) who was in the oil distribution business in Florida. His company did business with the first owner but I’m unaware if they knew of the connection.
I have owned the boat for twenty years and it has been a great fishing boat, party boat and has travelled to the Bahamas and the keys.
