17' Snijder & Hettinga Runabout (2019)

A modern classic. Inspired by the classic 17ft runabout from Chris Craft from the 1930’s and 40’s. Build with modern materials and techniques, locally found resources and together with local companies. A prototype hoping to incorporate and electric drivetrain and a final project finishing our boatbuilding training in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

A stripbuild hull, reinforced with fiberglass and epoxy. After that a 7mm mahogany skin has been fitted. All cut from the same log and mirrored on the starboard and port side. Wooden details made with American Walnut in the deck and around the cockpits. Custom fittings have been installed. Finished with 18layers of 2component Epifanes varnish.

Temporarily a rebuild 120hp petrol engine has been installed to make test runs, but boat is suited for a full electric drivetrain.
