At 70 years old, I was finally able to build the boat I could only dream about in my twenties. It took 2 1/2 years to build this Mahogany framed beauty that has motor stringers made with Fir and 4 x 4 Oak used for the motor mounts. The cover boards and trim around all of the compartments are Black Walnut. The entire boat is all natural wood…no stain.
I used West System Epoxy to fasten all of the joints/parts; and, I finished the entire boat with 5 coats of epoxy and 13 coats of varnish. She shines.
I bought a 340 HP Marine Power Chev Fuel injected engine and did all of the wiring and installing myself. The first time I put it in the water and tried to go forward, it went backwards — wrong prop.
I really enjoyed building the boat, it challenged me in my retirement. It has made appearances in local parades and is truly loved by all of my kids and grand children. Oh, as for the name “Snaggle Puss #2” there is a great story about that.

John – A spectacular build! You are to be commended! 18 coats of finish, Unreal!!
We spent a lot of time in the Sandpoint /Coeur d’Alene area and loved it. Perfect area for your boat!
