The Bulldog was designed by Megargel and Gruber, and built by T. A. Kyle in City Island New York in 1933. A fleet was built for the American Yacht Club in Rye, New York. They were initially for the junior sailors, but were quickly discovered and sailed by the older yachtsmen and adopted as a one-design class by the American and Shore Acres Yacht Clubs. She is one of a possible two remaining of her class. The other was restored by IYRS in Newport, RI in 2008. She has been replanked from the waterline down and raced at Newport in the early 2000’s. We bought her in 2018 and have sailed her on Bantam Lake in Litchfield, CT. With the jib lines leading all the way back to the stern it proves to be a great boat to take our kids out on the water!
