Rhumba, #586C from John Alden, is built to within 1mm of original plans. She was built in 1990, in Australia using the best timbers both inside and outside. The elegance of the boat together with her seakindlyness, make her the best boat in the world.

I knew the wonderful Rhumba and her owner Barry during her time in Yamba, NSW, and had the privilege of sailing aboard her. It’s good to see her again.
I believe that this is probably “the best boat in the world”. I’m a softy for schooners and stays’l schooners in particular. First one I spied was on Long Island Sound, NY waters and I’ve loved them ever since. Alden designs are fantastic and many were home on my waters, not far from where they were built.
