28' Lane Motor Boat Company New Zealand Launch (1928) - RAINDANCE
Owner’s Description
Raindance was built in 1928 from kauri planks using the carvel construction method. Her design and construction indicate that she started life as a pleasure craft, but over the years has been used for commercial long-line fishing. Numerous owners have added and subtracted to her appearance, some good, most bad. In the late 1980’s she was rescued by two apprentice boat builders and rebuilt to the style you see today. In New Zealand she is referred to as a tram-top launch, with dog-house (rear cockpit/cabin).

Wow, she is so classy…and they got the proportions just right, she looks like a much larger boat! Well done
A credit to the two apprentices , she looks fantastic , another good rescue of a classic New Zealand boat
Gary – both kicked on to be very well respected and successful boatbuilders. But they had the best boss – John Salthouse.
I love the name Alan. Suits her delicacy.
Thanks Andrew. You missed an amazing show in Hobert, wall to wall varnished wood. And such friendly folk, happy to share their time and vessel. Alan H
