Owner’s Description
The perfect compromise of fiberglass below the waterline and wood above, K’AN is an elegant pilothouse with a kindly sea manner. Designed by a young Jay Benford and painstakingly built to the highest standard by the original owner, she is veteran of BC’s rugged coast. The full keel and double ended hull profile slips through the water like her namesake; K’AN is Haida for dolphin. A large rig and generous sailplan allow K’AN to move at hull speed while a Gardner diesel with feathering prop provides power for those calm days. The central pilot house is the perfect vantage point for the skipper and crew to tend to K’AN while escaping the famous cold damp west coast weather. Inside is spacious and bright with lots of natural light and a well thought out interior perfect for extended adventures. The gorgeous woodwork throughout is warm and cheery. From the pilot house the forward companionway leads to the accommodations, which can comfortably sleep five and an enclosed head with tub/shower. The aft companionway leads to the saloon complete with galley and a large wrap around dining area. As the sun goes down the skipper and crew are drawn to the comforts of the saloon to discuss the days’ events.Already a member?
