Owner’s Description
Ralph Winslow designed Jolle in 1929 while working for Eldridge McGinnis. She was built at the Soule yard in South Freeport, Me., and rebuilt in 2005-2010 by Paul Rollins of York, Me. She was relaunched at the boatyard of her birth 80 years later.
Originally equipped with a weighty worm-gear, she was rebuilt with tiller steering despite some concerns about weather helm but she balances beautifully on all points of sail. A yawl, she’s ketch-like in proportion with a large mizzenmast trimmed to a generous boomkin.
She has a good turn of speed, winning her class against engineless one-designs in a recent Eggemoggin Reach regatta. She’s remarkably dry underway with an easy motion.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
