Owner’s Description
Jenny Wren was built in 1962, by Charles Butterworth and his son. Charles was a shipwright in the Canadian Navy at the time. The plan for Jenny Wren was featured by Yachting World in 1938. Jenny Wren was sold to Dave Miller around 1965, and she moved to Squitty Bay on Lasquiti Island. Dave took his children to school on Vancouver Island making the daily trip between French Creek and Squitty Bay whatever the weather. Jenny Wren proved her seaworthiness! We bought her in 1977 when our son was 3 months old. We were friends with Charles Butterworth and keen to buy her when we heard she was for sale. We were pretty naive and she was in a sad state of repair. The once lovely mahogany strip decks were covered up. Over the 48 years she has been with us, and with the help of our good friend and shipwright David Betts, we have gradually restored her. We have had so many wonderful adventures in Jenny Wren since 1977. Our son Pip and his family are the main users now and will be taking over ownership. Each year we head off on holiday together, with my wife and I in our Camano Troll. We cruise around the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands. Lots of adventures. The engine is original, very noisy but reliable. She has a lug sail and a small jib.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
