Owner’s Description
Built by myself 2001. New Haven Sharpie. 27’9” Design Rueul Parker. Sailed every season since launch in Topsail Beach sound. Mast foot can be adjusted fore and aft on the fly to adjust weather helm. Centerboard can also be moved fore and aft. Proud to say I have worn out 4 sets of sheet and Halyard lines. Plywood under epoxy and xynole cloth. Brightwork Honduras mahogany with filler stain and minimum 14 coats traditional spar varnish. She draws about 10” and I sail her in our creeks just like her predecessors in the 1900’s. She is 100 Bushel class boat that was sailed and worked by one person. So she could hold 100 bushels. No motor just push poles like the original. I made patterns for the chocks and had them cast in Red Bronze. I had meet a pattern maker who learned the trade after being in the Army in WWII and then joining the Navy. He learned the trade on a special ship that could make most anything on board.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
