20' Sloop (2016) - HALCYON

I designed the boat: carved a model, l learned to take off the lines and lofted the boat. It is a 20’ overall length, trailered sloop and I am able single handed raise the 26 ‘ mast. The keel and stem is fabricated from Douglas fir (DF). The hull is strip planked from Western Red Cedar, 3/4”x 3/4”, strips are crown and cove glued and screwed 6” O.C. Deck, cockpit coaming and rub rail are Teak. Port Orford Cedar benches are fore and aft to add structure to the boat. There are no ribs, so the mast is free standing. The centerboard is laminated Ipe 2’ x 5’. The Halcyon has an inboard electric drive with 4 each 12 volt batteries for a 48 volt system which can run on battery alone for about 4 hrs. All the cleats and blocks are hand made from Ipe.
