Cygnet is a 1968 Dickerson 35′ Ketch. She was built from strip planked mahogany planks over oak ribs as Hull# 122 by the Dickerson Boatbuilders in Trappe, Maryland and designed by Ernest Tucker.
Cygnet was owned by Captain Thomas Kelly of Suttons Bay, Michigan from 1977 until his death in 2016. Kelly was the founder of the Inland Seas Education Association and sailed Cygnet throughout Traverse Bay and the Great Lakes with his family.
Fred Clark became Cygnet’s 4th owner in 52 years in 2018, and sails her from home berth in Menominee Michigan. She’s a classic mid-cockpit design with a ketch rig that sails well in all conditions, and is entering her 52nd year in excellent condition.

Tom Kelly had a remarkable empathy and was a great sailor! Good on ya Fred.
