Owner’s Description
The Rhodes 27 class, designed by Phillip Rhodes, was started in 1939 for the members of Fisher’s Island Yacht Club to form a new racing/cruising class.Cloverleaf, originally called Melmar II built by A&R in 1955 for Frank Zurn successfully raced her on the Great Lakes for many years. In 1974, under a different ownership, Cloverleaf was stolen in Jamestown, Rhode Island and was recovered in Maryland. We have now lovingly owned Cloverleaf for 45 years and sail her in the southern New England waters from May through October. We raced her to Bermuda and many wooden boat regattas. We hope to keep Cloverleaf in our family for many years to come.
