Chillcat is a motorless house barge, with a 34′ Chriscraft fiberglass hull and cedar superstructure. Sleeps 1, full bath. It features an all wood interior with many up cycled materials. It has a Pacific Northwest Native American theme. I rescued the hull & together with a shipwright & friends constructed a housebarge that features a bay window looking out at Lake Union’s busy boat traffic, flanked by 2 bridges & a fun neighborhood. I installed a cast iron tub, stained glass & lace to reflect the Victorian influences of the 1900s, together with red & yellow cedar interior that still retains its marvelous scent, ipe flooring & countertops refinished from fir & cedar that had lingered at the bottom of the lake for 80 years, once serving as floats for a now gone floating home. I have plans to build an upper level bedroom, but for now it’s a cozy quiet retreat in the heart of the city. My intention of ‘flipping’ a houseboat became a 5 year obsession to get it in the water, & now I wouldn’t part with it for all the tea in China!

I really enjoyed seeing in photos and a video how you turned the hull into a beautiful home on the water. Clever and artistically enjoyable to see.
