Owner’s Description
Ariki (meaning Chief or Leader in Maori) is arguably Arch Logan’s finest yacht and was the scratch yacht on the Waitemata from 1905-1938. Her design was a development of the Logan designed Rainbow of 1898 which in turn took her inspiration from the Royal Yacht Britannia.“One of Arch Logan’s lovely cutters, beautifully restored. A boat once seen, you’ll never forget—and if nearby you can easily see and appreciate her as she lies dockside near the Auckland Maritime Museum. Her flush deck makes for an exceptionally clean outward appearance disturbed only by an access companionway, a skylight, and the cockpit. Below, despite lack of standing headroom, the uncluttered symmetry still prevails in a marvelously open arrangement consisting of a pair of long, facing settee/berths and a tiny galley—all of it beautifully trimmed and finished.” – Maynard Bray
