16' Kingsbury Sailing Canoe (1900) - AHTI

I named my 1900 Kingsbury sailing canoe AHTI, Finnish god of the sea. This boating experience is unique, since you have both wind and paddle power and steerage. Lateen rig and windward helm means: when in doubt, do nothing. Feather on the leeward side or paddle on the windward side while sitting on a closed cell pad. The full skeg gives tracking and the starboard retractable leeboard provides fulcrum to turn and point.

This boat will accelerate the harder you paddle. Keep the nose just of the wind, paddle will push bow to go faster, then you paddle harder, wind pushes back and you must paddle harder until you rest by feathering. Downwind, the booms and sail can spin forward of the mast and luff, to rest or settle into nature.

I can easily load and transport full rig on my 1971 DS21, so range of use is optimal.8
