Abaco is one of the last wooden Albury boats built on Man-O-War Cay in the Bahamas. These boats were built by the hundreds over the years and served as the pickup trucks of the islands. For their size, they are outstanding performers in choppy water. I purchased her in the Bahamas and had her shipped to West Palm Beach and then drove her on her own bottom to the top of the Chesapeake Bay on the ICW. I have used her for many years as my primary photo boat for the Calendar of Wooden Boats. Doug Hylan took the lines off of this boat for the plans that he sells of this enduring design.

Hey Scott – You can find Ben’s work through a variety of avenues, but the best place to start is probably his website for the Calendar of Wooden Boats, which he’s been producing with Maynard Bray for over 40 years. His photos have also been featured in just about every WoodenBoat Magazine published over that period.
I’ll also add in a couple of Off Center Harbor videos (here and on his organization page) in which Ben shares his perspectives on maritime photography.
Beautiful! Where can we see some of your photo work?

Jeez, that’s beautiful.
Thanks John, she’s a great boat.
Perfect.
