Lil Random, is a beautiful, well maintained Hinckely Pilot 35, I am the fortunate owner who as the pleasure of sailing her often through the summer months on the beautiful waters of the Salish Sea.
She is build 3504 one of 7 wood hulls made before Hinckley went to glass. Very sturdy well built boat with beautiful mahogany from days gone by. This is a carvel wood hull, round bilge, long fin keel, diesel auxiliary sloop. Partial transverse bulkheads provide additional internal support.

She has been well taken care of over the years with the following highlights:

-Hull is exceptional quality mahogany planks on oak frames.
-1997 planking splines above the waterline, fared with 12 coats of primer and painted with 2 part epoxy paint.
-2010 frames were spliced or sistered with new frames from midships to bow. (9 Planks replaced)
-Teak decks replaced and calked in 2005, the deck is in beautiful shape now
-2010 Toe rail restored and varnished
-2020 Cabin sides refinished and varnished
-Interior refinished, painted and varnished
-All deck hardware refinished, chromed and or refinished. 

Through the 2025 winter Abernathy and Gaudin (Sydney B. C, ) are replacing stern post and two of the de-lignified frames around the engine bed. This shall be an ongoing dance.

All the of electrical was redone in 2010, with the addition of a connection for a flexible solar panel.

The rig was changed in 2004 with a Pro Furl MK1 in boom furling system.

While I am not loving the aesthetics, Pro Furl, as there is a track stepped 6 inches off the mast, I must say this system makes Lil Random so easy to sail single handed. This is about 85% of my sailing.

I truly love sailing this boat, it’s an absolute joy and with the tiller, well, it makes me feel as I am back sailing my old dutchman.
