1976 Lubec Boat, built by Penobscot Boatworks in Rockport, ME. Ted Brewer drew up a 32′ LOA scaled down version of the Quoddy Pilot, Chimera was the first of four built. Strip built and sheathed inside and out with West.
Chimera was sold soon after launching and spent her first three decades in Friendship, ME. She was then sold to her current owner, who is the son of the PBW proprietor, Andy Rheault. After sailing her in Cushing, ME for several seasons Chrisso embarked on repairs to cockpit but enlisted shipwright Mike Rogers to do the job right. She’ll return to her favored Muscongus Bay this summer.

Hi Chrisso, I didn’t realize until today that you moor in Davis Cove. My sister’s in-laws are the Brewster family who have had their homes, dock, boathouse, etc., on the western point there. Should we pass through this coming summer we’ll look for your boat.
Chrisso. We should all get together (Kirk, Ed, you &I and any other interested individuals) this season on land or sea to discuss our love & times with our Penbos. Would be a great time. Since INTEGRITY will be in around the 4th of July, I’d love to take everyone out for a sail on the Reach. Let’s make a plan.
Greetings from Rockland! I don’t think we’ve met, but I believe your mom stopped by one day to help me collect plans for the original Quoddy’s that PenBo built, including Gary Price’s after-hours Premlata which I’m now rebuilding in my barn on Old County Road. I’d love to check out your Brewer design as I have his book with the design featured, and I’m working to squeeze all the best ideas I’ve come across into my eventual dream boat once I finish her.
HI Kirk! I stopped in your dooryard once years ago, before you’d moved the boat into the barn. Would love to visit and talk about them more. Chimera has further work to be done before she goes back in the water, but she’s not far from you.
My apologies, Chrisso! I can either blame my steadily increasing age or all the epoxy and vinyl ester I’ve handled for not remembering your visit. I would love to meet up and chat. If you’re in the area, feel free to pop in, and I’ll show you where Premlata is currently in her reconstruction. I’ve been talking with David, too…it would be a blast to get together with you guys and Ed. Gary will likely be in Maine sometime this summer, but he doesn’t usually keep a set annual schedule on when he comes and goes.

Best,

HI David, we keep talking about it, maybe this year will be the year! (BTW technically Integrity is a PBW boat, not a Penbo 😉 )
