30' Traditional Portugese Xavega (1991)

Xavega, is atlantic coast tradicional fishing boat. Used in the north of Portugal, made of pine tree wood, long around 12 to 18 meters. Design to sail the breaking waves on the beach. Traditionally powered by 2 or 4 manual rows. The boat makes a circular trip launching the surrounding nets, later pulled to the beach, with a retaining bag for the fishes. Also the the Xavega boat is in the end of the daily labor, pulled to the sandy beach by groups of cows. This is the boat traditional bringing the popular Portuguese Atlantic sardine. Locals and tourists love the delicious grilled sardines with lots of olive oil and peppers.
