The Grays Harbor Historical Seaport in Aberdeen Washington built and operates the tall ship Lady Washington and two longboats which are replicas of the largest boats carried on deck the trading ships that came around the horn to trade on the west coast of North America for sea otter pelts. These large ships boats were stoutly built to withstand the rigors of coming alongside the ship in heavy conditions and landing on beaches. They carried heavy loads to and from the ship. Retrieved anchors, ferried water and supplies, and carried on trade on shore. These replicas weigh 5,000 lbs each, carry 15 crew and passengers with ten rowers, three masts setting dipping lugsails
and a jib.
