Owner’s Description
Sea Babe is an Angelman 23 gaff rigged sloop. She is a one and only designed by Hugh Angelman as a small version of the Sea Witch built by American Marine in Hong Kong. The hull is plank on frame, both frames and planks being made of teak. She has teak decks, cabin sides and interior. Hugh Angelman did the drawings in 1945 but the construction did not happen until 1961. The story goes something like, she was built to serve a market for those wanting a smaller version of the Sea Witch but it cost too much to build to make it feasible, so only one was ever built. I believe she has only ever lived in California and has sailed up and down the coast line. She is beamy making for a comfortable sail with room for 6 adults and a few kids on deck. We enjoy cruising San Diego bay and visiting all our favorite anchor spots. The kids love jumping from the large cockpit for a swim and always seem to find an exciting spot on the bowsprit while underway.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
