18' Vivier Stir-Ven Sloop (2023) - FINLEY GREY

The Finley Grey is a Stir-Ven 19 designed by Francois Vivier, a French naval architect with a portfolio of many designs. This boat is a smaller, lighter version of the Stir-Ven 22, a popular Raid boat in Europe. A key factor in choosing this design is the simple water ballast system that allows me to add up to 400 pounds (50 gallons) of ballast should conditions warrant. This boat is of Okoume plywood/epoxy construction with Eucalyptus trim. Chase Small Craft in Maine provided the cnc cut plywood and milled timber. Eric Bridgford of Carpinteria Boat Works in California built the boat with my assistance. The generous sail plan (225 sf) drives the boat nicely.
