Owner’s Description
I am a retired cabinet maker which explains in part my interest for wooden boats.Actually at one point I planned going either to the The Landing School of Boat Building and Design in Maine, or the School of Boat Building in Essex, UK. This interest for boat building was overtaken by the work as cabinet maker.
Years later I finally found time to build two tandem kayaks for the family, after purchasing plans from Guillemot Kayaks based in Connecticut. As the kids grew up, I built a pair of cedar strip Knight Heron solo kayaks, again Guillemot design and plans.
We are these days enjoying paddling all of them with family and friends, either on Quebec quiet lakes and rivers, or the rugged coast of Nova Scotia.
The passion for wooden boats did not end there as I eventually acquired a wooden Folkboat. This sailboat, named Hahemi, is also featured by the WCBS. We can now enjoy at home the windless days kayaking or the breeze sailing… always on wooden boats.
