DUET is a 17′ Electric Runabout that really turns heads.Built in 2010, this beauty has evaded all drama and made lots of friends along the way. At that time I lived on a lake with a dock, I could only have a boat less than 17′, and electric only. I mostly went to the store or out to dinner with my wife cocktail cruising. DUET was named by my friend that played saxophone for PINK FLOYD for 10 years.
DUET has a 48V Solid Nav marine electric motor, designed as a sailboat conversion that I tipped over to fit in DUET, powered by 4 @ group 31 AGM Batteries to run the motor with a Pro 4 bank charger.
1 group 27 AGM with charger to run the “house” – fish finder, mood lights, misc lights, horn, stereo (which usually only has Frank Sinatra playing).
All hardware is Actual Chris Craft Bronze or Stainless.
With fresh batteries, I have run it for 5 hours @ 5mph, and I have had it up to 11mph but that might
last about 1 hour. (But I have never not made it back!)The design is just years of building boats and stealing ideas. DUET is one of about 100 other boats I’ve built over the last 50 years as a shipwright.
71 years old and still building boats! I have 7 here on Orcas Island, where I live now.
