16' Cedar Key Sharpie (2016) - AJAX

Cedar Key Sharpie inspired by Howard Chapelle’s American Small Sailing Craft.

Originally developed for tonging oysters, I built this one for salt water fly fishing.

Materials are plywood, fiberglass and cedar with a sectional carbon fiber mast that stows below for poling and rowing.

Rather than a centerboard AJAX has one port side lee board that also pulls well to windward and an articulating rudder for fishing the flats.
