13' Switzer Replica Speedboat (2013) - SIZZLER

Boat plans are not available so the lines for Sizzler were developed using written descriptions and photographs obtained through the internet. It is believed that plans were lost in a fire which necessitated reconstruction with the help of a full sized wire frame half model built on the work bench. This allowed for recreation of full sized frames and eventual construction of the boat.
Much was written about the angle of the transom which was finally constructed at 15 degrees off verticle. The resulting motor trim caused porpoising over 25mph. Many trips to the lake and adjustments to the motor angle and finally the addition of trim tabs have resolved this.
The boat is reminiscent of driving a small two-seater sports car on the water.
