Little Orphan
This 12′-10″ Peapod, edge-glued lapstrakes and no frames, is a nimble, 95-lb. rowing skiff—light enough to easily bring aboard our 58′ William Garden, yet stable enough to carry two with ease.Found in a central California storage garage, a mystery with no known builder or designer. All I could find was, “Built by someone in Santa Barbara” Almost flawless—her craftsmanship so pristine it was as if she had just left a very skilled shop. The only boat I’ve ever bought sight unseen, and when the door rolled up, I was stunned.
I inquired with Doug Hylan, who saw hints of his Beach Pea, though she carries more strakes. No papers, no history—but she has a new home, and ready for adventure.
