Owner’s Description
Thor is a San Francisco Pelican design– a dory-pram hull with standing lug sloop rig, centerboard and ample decks all around the cockpit. The design was developed in the 1960s by William Short for use on San Francisco Bay and has been featured in Wooden Boat and Small Craft Advisor. There are Pelican class fleets in California and Puget Sound with active racing. Thor’s first decade was spent actively participating in the Puget Sound Pelican fleet with her initial owner. Thirty years ago I purchased her and she came with me to Oregon where she day sails and camp cruises on the Willamette and Columbia rivers. However, she has never lost her taste for the salt chuck and regularly visits protected waters on the Oregon coast and the Salish Sea. Being light and easily trailered opens up lots of territory to explore. For her minimal size and weight, she is a surprisingly versatile, safe and commodious daysailer or camp cruiser. Thor may not graced with conventional beauty, but she offers a lot of bang for the buck and a salty, can-do attitude!Already a member? Log in herePhotos
