Friday, 2/16 | Opening Night Celebration & Tour of the Show

Watch the replay of this presentation below…

Mix your favorite cocktail, or brew a good cuppa joe, and join the crew as we celebrate the opening of the 2024 Worldwide Classic Boat Show.  We’ll have our traditional opening margarita in-hand to kick-off the Show, and we’ll give you a quick insider’s tour of what not to miss on the website and what’s happening at the Show.

Off Center Harborita Recipe*:

  • Place four ice cubes into a Bonne Maman jam jar (or other jar with a lid).
  • Pour tequila up to the top of the curved decor on the glass and then fill to the top with limeaide (a 40/60 ratio of tequila/limeade):
    • Hornitos Reposado or Sauza Conmemorativo tequila (NOT Jose Cuervo!)
    • Simply Limeade (Newman’s Own Limeade is a good substitute)
  • Close sealed lid and shake wildly 40 times (shaking is the key to smoothness)
  • Sit back, open, sip and enjoy the Show (stronger than they taste so drink with care – 1.5 drinks is our max)
  • Save more Bonne Maman jam jars to build a set of eight for guests (blend can be made in pitcher)

We have Texas margarita-snob roots and this mix is as good as any complex, fussy, high-maintenance blend

Just finished watching the replay of Friday night. Wonderful to see the people actually enjoying the show who created the show! Thanks for all your hard work! Congratulations!

From one former Texan and still margarita-snob, here’s another take on the recipe above:

    12 oz. can frozen Limeade
Fill the empty Limeade can full of tequila
Add 2-3 Dos Equis Amber beers

    Enjoy!

Wish I could’ve joined you, but as of 8:30, a window comes up saying that the presentation hasn’t started yet. This is a big disappointment.

Not seeing anything here. Started checking at 4:00 PM PST…”This event hasn’t started yet”. The refresh button doesn’t help. 🙁

    Lets hear from Maynard.

    • Sandy Lam 2 years ago

Ah you must’ve just missed him! He spoke near the beginning but you can watch the replay to hear what he said.

Sandy- The work you’ve done collecting all the organizations, etc., is stunning. Did you find them by searching the web with keywords or what? I can’t fathom how you did it.

      Hi David!

The guys had a nice big spreadsheet for me to begin with, but it’s been a lot of google, and finding groups through other groups organically. I’ll hear about groups through social media accounts/newsletters I follow etc.

Great start! Listening to the launch party while watching the slide show as Maynard suggests. 2 in the morning here in Greece but I didn’t want to miss this. The boats, the show, and the tech gets better every year.

Wow you win for joining in from a crazy time zone! We love it. Thanks for staying up with us!

Thank you very much for your project. We are very grateful that you have brought together those interested in classic boats and created a communication platform. Preserving boats is easier when we share our experiences and solutions – and meet very nice people in the process. A central strategic topic is the activation of young talent! The associations in Europe are currently exchanging more information on this topic.

Of course, it would be great if we could get in touch with classic sailors and boat builders from Victoria BC /Sidney BC to recover original parts that were lost between 1980 and 2000. Let’s see if we can make any progress with our project.

So great to see all of you… margaritas in hand. Kevin your editing and film creating is fantastic. Love your commitment to boats and the world and connections. Can’t wait to see all of the show.

    • Sandy Lam 2 years ago

Hi Julia! <3 <3 So happy to have you here, there, everywhere in our hearts. 🙂

    Hi!

Although Maynard has long sported the Ernest Hemingway look (with a much kinder personality to go with it), Kevin has out-stripped him with his L. Francis Herreshoff look-alike effort. 😉
