Wonderful presentation, thanks for sharing the passion and joy.
Cheers to the panel of presenters. Very informative and well done. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
A few moments on the status of boat building schools, specifically in the Hardonger Fyord in Norway.
Great discussion on what’s happening across the pond. It would be most interesting to delve a little more closely into the steel boat building of the Dutch. The lines are the same, yet the materials and techniques must surely incorporate both metal and wood building expertise. Tom’s esprit de corps, as always, most welcome and entertaining.
Having trouble getting in to it.
Hi Francis,
What kind of issue are you having?
Wonderful presentations. Enjoyed them all. Love wooden boats and loved sailing. Thanks for the ticket! Paul
Thank you Morten for adamently encouraging the use of traditional wood, linseed oil, and linseed oil paint in boat building and restoration!! I have dreaming of building a boat entirely naturally and we are currently restoring a small wooden boat and I am dedicated to using only natural paint. What do you use for bottom paint?
I have the impression that most of the talk is about larger boats, and they are quite expensive to restore//rebuild; but isn’t it so that there is quite a lot of people, and I think all over Europe, building smaller wooden boats for themselves using plans of François Vivier, Iain Oughtred and quite some other designers who get their inspiration from older working boats?
Agree, I think there should be more attention for boats and boat builders of “new” wooden boats based on classic designs too. These people will keep the building traditions alive and pass on the feel for classic beauty to the next generations since most older boats are indeed already restored or not available anymore. Of course possible restoration projects are very important learning experiences keeping maritime cultural heritage alive.
Yes, I think so too. But small boats are often not so in the focus like big ships. The small bot scene is growing, but they do not get the attention they, in my opinion, preserve. The festival in Douarnenez is awesome to visit with a small boats. We went their with our over 120 year old Thamesgig, a small roeing boat build for the river Thames, and it was a lot of fun. But for example in Germany there are no such festivals, where smaller boats could have fun. The big Festivals like the “Kieler Woche” are manly for Tallships or other big sailing boats. Small boat types may have their own regatta but no general festival.
Is there a calendar of shows available? List of websites?
Hi George,
If your scroll up above the presentation window, the presenters and their festivals are listed with links to their show! You can also find them in the Festivals & Shows category in the show.
I will start with thise, but wondering about others that didn’t make today’s list. I suppsei could also just search the WWCB website for festivals too. Put me on a mailinlist for festival tours. Thanks again.
Oh there are SO MANY festivals around the world it would be so hard to cover all in a presentation. You can definitely explore more under the Festivals & Shows category. I love the idea of a list mailing list for current festivals this summer. I will add it to the list!
Thank you Sandy. Sorry for all misspelling but just so excited.
Cheers.

Ah, to be there again. Thanks for pulling together such a wonderful group of people and festivals, Tom!
Thank you for all these great presentations.
Wish I could attend at least one of those festivals one day… Added to my bucket list!
All the presentations were great. I now have some new destinations to sail to in the future. Thank you.

I’ve been enjoying this presentation with no technical issue’s.
Willemsoord is also the base of the Fairtransport guys
Love Fairtransport! Tres Hombres is not only an amazing vessel but the cargo they carry is most excellent! I was never a rum gal until I tried theirs.
I’m surprised to hear from Ron about so much boat building happening of new/big wooden boats in Holland. Is that the case? And it would be interesting to hear how much building of new boats is happening in the areas represented by each speaker.
Can’t seem to get the live feed.
Chris jones
Hi Chris,
Did you try refreshing the page? The live feed is working.
Are there lines plans of any of these boats?
