Description
The Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 is for those who love the sea and appreciate their vessels even more. The name “Rasmus” is the God of Winds in Germany. The design of the Rasmus 35 was in many ways ahead of its time. It was the first sailing yacht in the world with a windscreen. This made her center cockpit very well protected. It also makes the Rasmus exceptionally well suited for sailing in the Great Lakes, North Channel and beyond. She has a history of three caring owner’s, fresh water only. It is apparent she has been maintained with great respect and professional pride. “Far Niente” is hull #543 designed by Sweden’s Olle Enderlein. Designed to sail the North Atlantic and boasting an inch and a half of hand laid fiberglass in her hull she is a true blue water boat. According to Frank Irish, Christoph Rassy accompanied the delivery of several Rasmus 35s to the Irish Boat Shop in Harbor Springs, Michigan in the 1970s. Initially Rassy wanted to ensure that the business partnership was a good one, but Frank said he returned several more times over the years because, “Mrs. Irish makes the best cherry pie in the world.” The skilled professionals at Irish Boat Shop have kept up the maintenance and storage of this boat since new.
