HAPPY DOG is One of the finest examples of Rumerys version of Nat Herreshoff’s ALERION design. She is possibly the most comfortable and sea kindly boat i have ever sailed on, not to mention, she is so easy to sail, an 11 year old can master her easily.
These boats are semi custom with fiberglass hull and deck, mahogany cabin sides, highlighted by a teak deck overlay by teak decking systems. New sails, engine and rigging in 2015. The decks were re-calked and varnish stripped and built back to an incredible glow in 2024.
This boat is ready to go! Currently in the water and in use. Sadly there is no trailer. A new one from triad is about $10,000
The schooner MARTHA foundation in port townsend washington has received HAPPY DOG as a donation to be sold and funds applied to the upcoming final stage of restoration. All offers will be reviewed.
