Owner’s Description
Anne Marie is a traditional Swampscott surf dory replica, built by Lowell’s Boat Shop, Amesbury, Massachusetts in the mid 1980s. It is nearly 20 feet overall, uses a light sliding gunter sloop rig (loose-footed main), provides three rowing stations and an outboard motor well. The lapstrake hull is of cedar planking and oak framing, with mahogany seats. The boat is a perfect trailer sailor–except her owner has been distracted toward other adventure (with a Bristol 24). It’s not Anne Marie’s fault–she has the lines to catch attention and encourage fun aboard. The centerboard and a long rudder pivot–the large rudder can be raised— means approaching the beach or launching is easy. Her current owner is still puzzling the rig, and the British Seagull motor needs seals (more of an aromatic ornament), but research and discovery along Maine’s coast ought to allow plenty of opportunity for locating effective low-impact process. Most visible surfaces have been refinished with epoxy and poly, but the original oak mast hoops have yet to be replaced.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
