Canoeist has probably been the world’s longest running canoeing magazine, founded in 1953 as White Water Magazine. Exclusively online and now in newsletter format, primarily for a British readership, copies can be downloaded

It is non profit making and independent of canoe trade and administrative interests. It carries no paid advertising and has no paid staff. Consequently, while your articles, items, news and other contributions are welcomed and appreciated, Canoeist has never been in a position to pay for these. This magazine is by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. In 2003 it took the inaugural Achievement Award of the Periodical Publishers Association, a British publishing Oscar.
Over 300 detailed guides in the magazine have been used as the basis of a series of substantial guidebooks published by imprint of leading book publishers Bloomsbury. They include the historical industrial canals now used for recreation, rivers which were improved as commercial navigations, tidal rivers and the fantastic coastline of Britain. For details see
