1990 Custom built Norwalk Islands Sharpie 31 ft. Ketch
Mudlark is a racer cruiser designed by the late marine architect Bruce Kirby. Her home was St. Petersburg, Florida where she spent more than twenty years sailing Tampa bay waters and cruised the west coast between Tarpon Springs, Dry Tortugas and Abacos Islands, Bahamas. Mudlark is now on the hard in Cambridge, MD.
Her hull is cold molded with cedar strips using West System Epoxy.
Toe rails were completely replaced with teak in 2020 including stainless striker and new chocks and painted to match the deck.
Cockpit aft bulkhead partially rebuilt in 2020 and seats rebuilt using divinylcell and fiberglass. Manual guzzler pump under stbd seat.
Companionway mahogany trim replaced. Cockpit bulkheads had wood veneer removed and sealed with fiberglass then primed and painted with Awlcraft Cream.
Decks repainted with Awlgrip Cream and has new nonskid.
Honda 15 outboard in lazarette mounted to raise and lower manually using 6:1 harken blocks through a trap door which slides athwartship using in haul/out haul lines. The motor well was rebuilt in 2020. The motor has electric start and throttle in cockpit. There is an electric windlass switch in lazarette.
Anchor is a 25 lb. CQR with 300’ of multiplait ½” line and 20’ stainless chain. Small danforth anchor for a lunch hook or stern anchor.
All deck hardware, line organizers, winches, traveler replaced 2007 with harken blocks.
Kenyon Spars are aluminum with internal halyards led aft to rope clutches and harken single speed winches. Jiffy reefing system led internally through boom to rope clutches. Lazyjack system. Windex on mast head and B&G wireless & solar windex. Combo RGW Nav. Light.
Sails designed and built by Sail Technologies in St. Petersburg, FL.
Main sail has full battens and two sets of reef points. Mizzen has full battens and one set of reef points. Mizzen stay sail. Two spinnakers – one radial with a sock and one asymmetric. Genoa 155%. Jib has full battens and one reef point. Sail slides use nylon slugs secured with dyneema soft shackles.
Stainless bow pulpit and stanchions lead aft to bumpkin with 3/16” white plastic coated wire and pelican hooks at the gates for easy boarding. Stainless folding ladder attaches to port toe rail.
Custom canvas with zippered access covers entire boat. Excellent in water or winter protection from the elements. No sand bags.
Basic 12V Electrical panel. Recent battery charger

Fuel capacity 30 gals. Water 80 gals.
Interior cushions covered in sunbrella. Cockpit cushions white vinyl.
2 burner gimballed alcohol stove and icebox
Drop leaf tables fixed to centerboard trunk in cabin
B & G MDF with 7” color screen in cockpit. Auxiliary VHF Ram Mic plug next to helm.
MOB lashed outboard to stanchion for fast easy deployment.Currently she is in a neglected state and needs plenty of wood work. None of the work is beyond the scope of a DIY project.
Interior overhead needs a coat of paint
Starboard deck from genoa track aft is wet
Starboard coaming face has rot
Cockpit sole and a partial section of aft cockpit bulkhead needs some work
Cabin eyebrow trim needs replacing
Centerboard pendant turning block on cabin top has an area of compressed plywood which needs attention.
Starboard port light has a small wet area.
The heads pump needs service
Most other work is cosmetic; meaning epoxy and varnish as needed.Photos
