Owner’s Description
My Beachcomber-Alpha dory was built in Port Townsend sometime in the 1980s, from the plans in The Dory Book, by John Gardner. She’s fir ply planked with Port Orford cedar thwarts and a mahogany transom. Solid spruce mast and boom, and Hasse & Pettrich sails. Currently converted to tiller steering using a transom-mounted bronze mainsheet horse, but I still have the yoke and tiller lines to convert back to the original steering setup – would be a very simple job. I’ve had this boat about 6 years and mostly sail her on Tomales Bay, north of San Francisco. The only non-stock item is an outboard motor well for a 2.5 hp outboard – handy when you need to push her along against tide or current.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
