17' Herreshoff Coquina (2019) - L

Mr. N.G. Herreshoff designed Coquina for his own use in winter 1889. It is said that he sailed her personally longer than any other his designs. This is a lot to said from this boat. Mr. N.G. Herreshoff is one of the most noticeable yacht designer from 1800’s to early 1900’s. His is well known from America’s Cup winner Columbia, New York 30’s and 40’s and probably one of the most beautiful long keeled day cruiser Herreshoff 12 1/2 (Mr. Joel White designed a centreboard version of this boat known as a Haven 12 1/2).

Coquina is a light, trailerable 16’8” long day sailor. Mr. N.G. Herreshoff has designed at least three different rig types to it, and the two mast configuration is most common. Typically these boats are build with lapstrake planking but this project was build as strip planked from red cedar to meet customers needs. She also has modified rig. Instead of yawl rig she has single mast standing lug sail.
