33' Hunt 33 Power Cruiser (2013) - POETTIC

POETTIC is a 2013 Hunt 33. Probably not typical of the boats featured here, but she is an honest, seaworthy, usable family boat.

She has a single diesel engine, straight shaft and a propeller unlike many of the boats in her class with twin engines, expensive jets or pod drives to maintain. She also has a manageable amount of brightwork and systems ̶ all of this in a safe, comfortable and proven Ray Hunt deep-vee hull.

She’s ideal cruising with a couple and “fun?” camping with 3 kids. We’ve taken her from Newport back and forth across Long Island Sound many times, downeast to Maine (offshore from Provincetown to Camden), and countless trips to the Vineyard, Block Island and Nantucket on a moments notice. She’s a great boat for taking a group of up to even ten (!) out to watch the races or for lunch and a swim. She’s perfect for an active family to get around the waters and islands off Newport.

She cruises easily at 25 kts all day and her fuel consumpsion at that speed is far less than you’d think and much less than similar boats with twin engines. If you want to amble along at 8-10 kts, she’s incredibly efficient.

She may not be as pretty, romantic and photogenic as some of the classic wooden boats, but she was well designed to be seaworthy and practical and gets the job done reliably. And her functional lines give her what I think are attractive and traditional looks compared to so many of the boats today.
