Built to Ian Oughtred’s Gannet design, SULA is a glued plywood lapstrake sailing dinghy, built and owned by our club.
Marine plywood planking and deck (1/4″) and transom (3/4″) , with Douglas fir, yellow cedar, and a bit of black locust for framing, floors and seats, and Sitka spruce spars.
The boat has fulfilled our dreams of a fast, stable, and commodious vessel to round out our fleet. She moves well in just a hint of breeze, and can handle 5 adults in a good blow.
