I see she was built one year after my boat, ANNIE, at Paul Luke’s yard in East Boothbay. You might not be aware of this, but according to Maynard Bray and Tom Jackson’s book on Aage Nielsen, (ANNIE’s designer) Nielsen was a perfectionist and Luke was the only builder he would deal with in the U.S. And he personally supervised the work.

I knew Paul, his sons Frank and John as well. I was 16 when we spent the final 2 week period to commission “Madrigal” at his yard. I can remember when Paul visited my machine shop in Blue Hill while he was delivering one of his feathering props for a Schooner in Stonington. He was an amazing man and built beautiful boats.
