2021 marks 40 years in the marine trades for Seattle area boatwright Eric Hvalsoe. Work in the Shoreline shop includes the repair, maintenance and construction of wood vessels of all sorts, from rowing dinghys and runabouts to Dragon and Kutter sloops. Work may also be carried out at local yards and docks. Design and construction of traditional small craft includes the Hvalsoe 13, 16 and 18. Inquiries for custom commissions are welcome.
Working with Eric is a personal and collaborative experience, with reasonable shop rates and unusual access to the greater Seattle and Puget Sound area.
Eric has been teaching traditional boatbuilding skills at the Center For Wooden Boats in Seattle, among other locations, for decades. Eric’s creations – power, oar and sail, have been featured in various publications, including WoodenBoat Magazine and Small Boats Monthly.

Got a previously owned Hvalsoe 13 #7 but the sprit sail spar didn’t come with it. Can I get one somewhere? If I have to make one, what wood is best or at least good, and are details available for that?
