Caitlin is an Ian Oughtred Whilly Tern. The smallest of the beachboats modeled after the orkney yoles. She was built in the UK by Graham Niel. (Website with pics of the build below) He sold her and after a few years in holland she came to Belgium.
She taught me to sail, capsize, trailer and care for boats. Hope she does the same for my 3 kids…
She is a small but spirited sailer. Force 4 winds will see her best reefed. The occasional capsizes is always a possibility but she’s easely righted and boarded again.
I sail and row her most of the time @ the local pond. But took her on daysails @ Lac de l’eau d’heure (Belgium) and a lot in Holland:
Friesian region @ Lauwersmeer (raid extreme) and @ het hop
Zeeland region: overnight cruises @ Veerse meer @ Haringvliet and @ Westerschelde
