Owner’s Description
Waterlily is a 1983 Bass boat built by F. L. Tripp & Sons, Westport, MA. Her original design is purported to be from a lobster boat hull by B. T. Dobson. The boat was first built in Fiberglass by Palmer Scott of Massachusetts before the Tripp yard took over building them in the 60s or 70’s until the 1990s. Tripp built them with a few different configurations including with a trunk cabin and windshield, flush deck and windshield and as a center console. They were powered by both outboard and inboard engines. I’ve owned Waterlily for about 20 years. When I bought her, I installed the teak coamings and transom. She kept her original Mercruiser gas engine from 1983 until 2019 when I repowered her with a bigger Mercruiser. She cruises comfortably at 15-17 knots, or faster (but not as comfortably), and tops out at a frightening 31, much faster than her semi-displacement hull wants to or should go. She has been a great family boat, used for fishing, waterskiing, and often venturing from Newport to Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard and even out to Nantucket.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
