Owner’s Description
The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding built the Clean Bay Zero-Emission pumpout boat “Clean Bay” as a learning platform for boatbuilding and marine systems students, The boat promotes environmental stewardship: its zero-emission propulsion system features electric and solar technology; its corrosion prevention system keeps heavy metals out of the water; the boat earns its keep by keeping waterways clean of wastewater. As they built the hull, deck, and house, students in the boatbuilding program gained experience with laminating, strip planking, cold molding, vacuum infusion, foam core construction, mill work and joinery. Marine Systems students gained valuable experience in design and installation, load calculations for propulsion and energy storage, sizing of solar modules, impressed current cathode protection. Clean Bay has been locally designed, engineered, built and operated.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
