12' Treat Catboat (1983) - FREDDIE THE CAT

Freddie the Cat is celebrating 40 years afloat this year, launched April 23, 1983, on Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida.
Built by Robert Treat, she is cold molded with African Mahogany veneer over Cypress strip planking. Bob would tell you that he built a half scale version of Ted Brewers Chappaquiddick 25. But with that degree of modification Bob deserves at least half of the design credits.
Caring for an older boat always brings a connection to the builder, designer, and previous owners. It is especially rewarding when all of those are embodied in one person and that one person is a friend.
It is my pleasure to care for and enjoy a lovely vessel with a connection to our Cedar Key sailing family.
