Miss Australia was built as a sponsorship vehicle for the Miss Australia quest in 1953. May quest winners have Benn entertained on this boat. She is said to have transported Queen Elizabeth from Melbourne to her Royal Yacht in Hobsons Bay during the Queens 1954 Coronation visit to Australia.

She was built and probably designed by the famous Pompei brothers Jack and Joe of Mordialloc Melbourne Australia. Commissioned by Maurice Dowd who had the lingerie factory Berlei and was a sponsor for the Miss Australia quest. The boat was based at the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club in Williamstown for many years. As a “double ender” she is quite unusual from Pompeis.
