THE SHEIK is a replica of a 1920s Gold Cup racer, built in 1985. The main photo is Copyrighted in 2022 by Kent O. Smith, Jr. She was designed by Harvard Forden with consultation by famed race boat designer C. Douglas Van Patten and Mr. Forden built her.
She is equipped with a General Motors 454 cubic inch engine putting out 420 horsepower and propelling her to a top speed of 74 mph. All her fittings are custom one-off silicon bronze castings and all are bolted from behind, keeping clean lines throughout. The engine hatch is opened hydraulically with the push of a button.
THE SHEIK has received numerous trophies and awards at ACBS judged boat shows.She received trophies for Best Race Boat and the Judges’ Choice award at the ACBS Chesapeake Bay Chapter’s 30th Annual Antique & Classic Boat Festival in June 2017.

In June 2019, at the 32nd Annual Chesapeake ACBS and Antique & Classic Boat Festival in St Michaels, Maryland, THE SHEIK won two awards for Best Contemporary and People’s Choice, which is given to the boat that received the most votes by members of the public attending the show.
On July 28, 2019, at the ACBS Finger Lakes Boat Show in Skaneateles, New York, THE SHEIK won the award for Best Race Boat. Afterward, she was launched in nearby Cayuga Lake for a ride!

In 2020, the Finger Lakes Chapter of ACBS awarded THE SHEIK the People’s Choice Award after an internet vote during their virtual boat show.
In 2021, at the ACBS Chesapeake Chapter Boat Show in St. Michaels, MD Father’s Day weekend, THE SHEIK was given the Hagerty’s Choice Award presented by Hagerty Insurance.
At the 2022 A.C.B.S. International Show on Lake Champlain in Burlington, VT, THE SHEIK won a Gold Award, falling 1 point short of Platinum status due to a judging error.
At the 15th Annual Concours D’Elegance in St. Michaels, MD in 2022, THE SHEIK received a Second Place Award among all the boats on display.
